In case you were on Mars for the past few weeks or Levelland, you probably heard something about a little football dust-up that happened on Sunday.

It was billed as the battle of the ages. The game in which the proverbial torch would be passed, from the old G.O.A.T Tom Brady, to the New G.O.A.T., Patrick Mahomes.

Well, something was torched alright.

Final score: Tampa Bay 31, Kansas City 9.

Tom Brady now has more Super Bowl wins (7) than any other team in the NFL. His former team, the Patriots, and the Steelers both have 6 wins. Tom has now won his 7th, and proven that the success that New England had over the past 20 years was solely because of him. The guy should be the first member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame who is currently playing. I don't think it's unreasonable.

However, today...Lubbock weeps.

This is the look of a sad man. A sad, wealthy man who is about to become a dad.

Put this into perspective. Patrick Mahomes was six years old when Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl. In 2017, just a couple of weeks after Mahomes declared that he was leaving Texas Tech to enter the NFL Draft, Brady was leading the Patriots back from a 28-3 halftime deficit to an overtime victory against the Falcons to win his 5th Super Bowl ring.

As hyped, this game should have been the one in which we saw a changing of the guard, where the young, electrifying superstar would show that he was the heir apparent to Brady's lofty status.

Instead, Brady yelled at the kid to get off his lawn, and showed that he's still the man. Kind of like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino.

Don't worry, Chiefs Kingdom. Patrick Mahomes will be back in the Super Bowl.  However, Tom Brady said after the game that he would be back with Tampa Bay next year as well.

I think we're headed for a rematch next year.
