Homecoming mums have a long history that dates back to 1950s and 60s. It's such a fun tradition that we have here in Texas. And it seems like every year it just gets bigger and bigger.

When I was in high school, I didn't want a big mum because those things get heavy. Well, this year it looks like one girl might have taken the cake with the biggest mum.

CISD Canyon Lake High posted a picture on Facebook of one of their seniors with her mum. The post reads "one of our Senior students, Amie, has done it again with one of the most amazing mums we have ever seen!!!! This girl knows how to celebrate a Texas Homecoming! 💛💚 Well done Amie!!"

I guess people have opinions on both sides just like everything, but I love it. I think it's so awesome that Amie wanted one like that and it takes a lot of work.  Girl, you look amazing. Don't ever let anyone dull your sparkle. I have a feeling this is going to be one of many this year with body-sized mums as I like to call them.

According to Country Living, a "homecoming mum began as a sweet Texan token of affection given to a girl by her date in honor of the high school homecoming football game and surrounding events. Often in-season during the early fall months in Texas, chrysanthemums became the unofficial flower of high school homecoming events. A boy would accent a simple bloom with a few ribbons or adornments and give it to a date who would proudly wear the floral brooch to the homecoming game or dance. Back then, a typical mum cost around $3."

We know it costs way more than $3 in Texas because we always have to go bigger. If you want to learn about the history of the mum, Country Living does a great job of breaking it down for us.

Here's another mum I found. I really love that it's the shape of Texas.

No matter the size, it's just a fun way to support your sign and spirit. I can't wait to see more.

Top 10: These Are Texas’ Most Expensive High School Football Stadiums in '22

There's a reason every good high school football movie is based in Texas.
