Grant a Seniors Wish Through Meals on Wheels’ Annual Secret Santa
As we get closer towards Thanksgiving this month that just means we are only getting closer to Christmas. This year Lubbock Meals on Wheels is holding their annual Senior Secret Santa programs for a third year in a row. This year Lubbock Meals on Wheels has had over 800 clients turn in a wish list of what they need, or want, just in time for the holiday season.
After Christmas lists are turned in people in the community and surrounding areas are encouraged to adopt a client by selecting a paper ornament with the wish list on it. Once all items on that Christmas list have been purchased and those items will go back to Lubbock Meals on Wheels so they can be gifted. Gifts must be turned into Lubbock Meals on Wheels no later than November 28th. Santa's Helpers, volunteers, will then proceed to gather all the items on the clients list and make sure they are ready just in time for that holiday delivery.
Volunteer Santa's will then be sent out to the community on December 14th to deliver those gifts to their new homes. Anyone interested in volunteering to deliver gifts can call 806-792-7971. Also anyone interested in just volunteering at Lubbock Meals on Wheels can find the application to volunteer to help Meals on Wheels online on their website. Currently, Lubbock Meals on Wheels is holding their annual Easy as Pie Fundraiser in collaboration with United Supermarkets just before Thanksgiving and by donating $5 you can get a free pie coupon.
