Enjoy an Amazing Blues Band at the Buddy Holly Summer Showcase
The Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase series is well underway after kicking off the season with a great performance. This week the John Sprott Blues Band will be taking the stage as Lubbock is winding down and celebrating the last week of classes and jumping into the Summer.
This Blues Band is just five years old and consists of four power house musicians with a unique sound that has been described as Chicago-style blues with a powerful Texas accent. Those musicians do include JT Paz on drums, Ron Riley on harmonica, Sean Frankhouser jamming out on bass and coming in hot on guitar and vocals is John Sprott. Within the last two years entered and advanced into the semifinals in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee and also represented the Greater West Texas Blues Society in 2022.
Like always I had to give this band a listen and see where the vibes transported me to on a mental and astral plane of existence. This bands music will transport you to Downtown Lubbock and have you visualizing a calm fun night with friends probably at some obscure roof party on top of some old brick building. The John Sprott Blues Band sound just has this type of sophistication that just speaks Texas summer sunsets and wind against the tall grass after the rain. I also urge you to give their song Six Feet Down a listen after opening your curtains, or blinds, while it's raining this spring and summer, it's an experience!
The John Sprott Blues Band will play from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Buddy Holly Summer Showcase, located in the Meadows Courtyard at the Buddy Holly Center. Chairs, picnic blankets, pets, outside food and beverages are not allowed but the Texas Mac Shack food truck will be serving food.
