It was on this day in 1998 that we lost culture icon and Congressman Sonny Bono.

Sonny Bono, born on Feb. 16th 1935, first got his start in the entertainment industry in the early 60's. He also gained success with his then wife Cher with their musical hit's "The Beat Goes on" and "I Got You Babe." The Sonny And Cher Show Variety show was a success as well running from 1971 to 1974, and then again from 1976 to 1977 despite being divorced.

Sonny Bono served as Mayor of Palm Springs, Ca from 1988 to 1992, and got elected to the U.S. Congress. Sadly Sonny Bono lost his life after sustaining injuries after he hit a tree while skiing.

Here at Kool 98 we remember Sonny Bono.
