A Lubbock man was arrested Sunday, June 7, for leading local authorities on a car chase.

According to a police report, at about 10 a.m., a Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputy witnessed a vehicle speeding and swerving down the eastbound lanes of FM 2641 in North Lubbock.

The vehicle was pulled over near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Regis Street, but the driver refused to show identification and sped away.

The suspect led the deputy and local police on a car chase before running a stop sign on Regis Street. The suspect then crossed a median and struck another vehicle on East Highway 62/82, injuring the 16-year-old driver and 18-year-old passenger.

The suspect suffered unspecified injuries and was taken into custody. He has now been identified as 40-year-old Tommy Shane Rayvon and faces charges of Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest and Failure to Identify.
