Lubbock Man Arrested by Police After Being Chased in Stolen Truck

A Lubbock man engaged local police in a vehicle pursuit Thursday morning, September 1st.

Early Thursday morning, officers with the Lubbock Police Department began pursuing a stolen work vehicle. According to the department, the vehicle was stolen at knife point by 35-year-old Paul Naranjo. Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputies were advised at 6:30 a.m. that the Lubbock Police Department officers were in pursuit of what turned out to be a stolen Sierra Spring Water box truck.

KAMC news reported that the pursuit was canceled once Naranjo left the city limits and fled into the county. Deputies continued the pursuit into the county as the box truck collided into a pickup truck while on North Farm to Market Road 1729 and East Highway 62/82. The pickup truck then pursued Naranjo ahead of the deputies, allowing law enforcement officials to get a continuing location on the stolen vehicle.

The pursuit ended at 6:54 a.m. on Farm to Market Road 1729 and North County Road 3100 when Naranjo exited the stolen vehicle. Naranjo was taken into custody and is being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on charges of an Outstanding Parole and Pardon Warrant, Aggravated Robbery, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading/Vehicle.

As of the time of this article's publication, there's no confirmed time for when the box truck was stolen, and no bond for Naranjo was set.
