A Lubbock man who had previously been indicted for the murder of Tyshaun Bates back on April 10th, 2019 has been arrested after leading police on a vehicle chase.

KAMC News reports that the pursuit began as a traffic stop at 2nd Place and Detroit Avenue on Wednesday, March 3rd. The details concerning the chase itself are scarce, like why exactly the traffic stop was initiated in the first place.

It's said that the chase began at around 2:15 p.m. in the afternoon and was over by the time a journalist arrived on the scene at 2:45 p.m.

It's said that the driver, 24-year-old Daytron Deon Hood, kept going but bailed out of the vehicle at around 2nd Street and Indiana Avenue. Afterwards, Hood led police on a brief foot chase. He was arrested soon after.

Whether or not Hood was the only person in the vehicle has yet to be determined.

Hood and another man, Christopher Thomas, were previously indicted for the 2019 murder of Tyshaun Bates. Hood had posted a $200,000 bond back in November of 2020 to be released from jail as the murder case remained pending.

Back in 2019, Lisa Morales had entered Bates' apartment to purchase marijuana, and left when she didn't have enough money for the purchase. Soon after, 2 masked men, one of which is said to have been Hood, entered the apartment, and after an argument, Bates was shot.
