In case you missed it, UMC just opened an amazing new Family & Children's Clinic unlike any other here on the South Plains.

As a soon-to-be-parent of two kids, I cannot tell you how excited I am for one specific service that this facility is providing: drive-thru testing.

"We have two garage drive-throughs on the back of the clinic where physicians and mid-levels will screen for conditions like COVID, strep, and flu without you having to get out of your vehicle," said Aaron Davis, UMC's vice president and chief experience officer. "This is really one of the first permanently built clinics to accommodate these situations. It's convenient, accessible, affordable, and just easy for families."

Following the need for pop-up testing sites during the peak of the pandemic, UMC saw an opportunity for growth, and as a parent, I am all for it. There's nothing worse than having to bring your sick child (or children) into a doctor's office only to have them squirm and scream as you wait to get a test.

This is a game changer for moms and dads, allowing their kids to stay comfortably in their vehicle. Better yet, it's a blessing for sick parents who don't have the energy to corral their kids.

Additionally, this two-story facility has both a pediatric and a family medicine floor as well as an on-site lab. They also have the ability to do X-rays. They're accepting new patients, and Davis notes that appointments, walk-ins and wait-from-home services are all available at this new location.

If you live on the south side Lubbock, it's in a fantastic spot, situated at the corner of Frankford Avenue and 98th Street (9615 Frankford Ave). If you would like to set up a new patient appointment, call 806-761-0265 for children and 806-761-0267 for adults.
