Want to eat local and support a good cause? Lubbock restaurants are stepping up to make that happen.

Starting on April 15th, 2022 and lasting for two weeks, a couple of local restaurants here in Lubbock are coming together for a little friendly competition. They're all competing to see who can raise the most money for the Covenant Children's oncology floor. It's for the Covenant Health Foundation Champions for Children campaign.

Picoso's Mexican Kitchen is heading up the competition and partnering with Taco Villa, Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, Stella’s, One Guy from Italy and Giorgio’s Pizza for two weeks in April to make it happen. Every restaurant has a different strategy for how they will be raising money.

For example, Picoso's will tab some items and donate a percentage of each one that's sold.

Covenant Children's Oncology provides access to leading therapies and research through collaboration with the Children's Oncology Group, the world's largest cancer research collaborative. They help children and adolescents who need treatment for cancer or blood-related disorders. Their inpatient pediatric floor is a 36-bed unit that provides comprehensive care which includes an on-site pharmacy, child life services, and case management services. Covenant Children's also has a dedicated pediatric-only outpatient pediatric oncology unit located in the connected Medical Office Building.

So come on out to these local restaurants to support the battle and keep checking in to see how they are doing.
