On this day in 1969 the album 'Chicago Transit Authority' was certified Gold. It was technically a self-titled album, until the band was sued by the REAL Chicago Transit Authority, and changed their name...to Chicago.
They were the first band to debut with a double album. It peaked at Double Platinum in November of 1986.
