One person was killed Thursday, May 19 in a two-vehicle crash in Randall County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called out to SL-335 approximately three miles southeast of Amarillo around 2:45 p.m.

Sources at the scene told KAMC News a 2015 Ford F-350 towing a goose-neck horse trailer struck a 2011 Nissan Murano after the Nissan made an illegal U-turn.

The Ford collided with the Nissan on the driver’s side, killing Karen Lester, the 72-year-old driver of the Murano.

Lester was pronounced dead at the scene by Randall County Justice of the Peace, Judge Bingham.

The driver of the pickup, Jeffrey Carlisle (39), was unharmed in the crash. KAMC News reports both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
