It's hard not to get choked up thinking about the incredible performance Robert Plant gave Lubbock this week. And it was a fitting, if tearful, goodbye to our auditorium.

But please don't misunderstand me. It wasn't mournful like a funeral. It was a joyous, glorious parting, and Plant gave our auditorium a show that let her end her life at the best: Full of happy people enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime performance from a living legend.

Plant absolutely still has "it" -- he's still a man with a near-mystical aura, a noble stature. He's absolutely still a magician of sound. He reminded me of a elder lion, still at the top of his pack. And his new music is really good. I encourage you to check it out.

He's supporting band was incredible, the fiddle enchanting, the Moog enthralling and they even had some instrument called a "twanger," which was quite fun to see handled by a seasoned and professional musician.

I'm a Lubbock girl, through and through, so I must share with you Robert's special homage to Lubbock, our history, our future -- our Buddy Holly:
