Rory McIlroy won the British Open for the first time this weekend, and that came with a $1.66 million purse. That's winnings, not an actual handbag.  (???)

Rory's father also cashed in. That's because 10 years ago, when Rory was 15, he bet about $350 that Rory would win the British Open before he was 26...which Rory will turn next May.

There are some conflicting reports on what Rory's father got for winning the bet, but it sounds like he got roughly $171,000. A few of his dad's friends also collected on similar bets. (You can find more on this story, here.)

(Here's a quick clip of Rory and his father hugging after his win.)
