Brenda Garcia with United Supermarkets joined us this week to discuss how you can still have your Summer treats while staying healthy.

According to Garcia, when people think of Summer treats, they think of ice cream and other desserts. Garcia told us this week that having a small amount of ice cream isn't bad, we just have to show control and moderation. For example, one serving of ice cream is 1/2 a cup. Not a full pint. Garcia suggested sticking to ice creams with higher fat content that are more filling, but again stick to half a cup.

If you can't do that, Garcia had some other tips like frozen Greek yogurt and yogurt bars. Garcia also suggested the Open Nature Fruit bars (my wife and I like the strawberry ones).

If you are looking for plant-based ice cream, Garcia suggested Arctic Zero. Listen to the interview above to hear the full discussion.
