Texas Tech’s 63rd Annual Carol Of Lights Will Welcome Visitors Back
Let's be completely honest about Thanksgiving and Christmas events from last year, most of them didn't exactly put people in the holiday spirit. There are just so many events you can do virtually before getting annoyed or depressed about the entire situation. Sure, public health warnings due to the pandemic led to many of the virtual events but that doesn't mean people enjoyed doing everything online.
Fortunately, we have seemed to have moved past the whole "virtual event" era and that means events over the next two months should bring on the holiday spirit, and that includes one of best Christmas traditions in Lubbock, Carol of Lights.
Earlier this week, Texas Tech tweeted about the upcoming Carol of Lights, and that Texas Tech is preparing for this year's event.
The 63rd Annual Carol of Lights, called Walking in a Winter Raiderland, is set to happen on Tuesday, November 30 2001. And this year, everyone is invited, as long as you aren't sick that is. Due to the pandemic last year, Carol of Lights was limited to a virtual only event and over 7,000 people watched. This year's event is back to welcoming people out to Memorial Circle and the Science Quad.
During the Carol of Lights over 20,000 students and members of the Lubbock community come together to sing carols and see the lights come on. The Carillon begins at 6:30 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Be sure to bring your camera for pictures of the lights and of the 38-foot Christmas Tree that will be lit up.
