The Jett Duffey Transfer Portal Saga Keeps Gets Stranger
Former Texas Tech QB Jett Duffey was headed to the AAC to play for Tulane. Then, it came out he wasn't admitted academically and again without a home. After that, the former Red Raider gunslinger was reportedly headed to Central Michigan to play for former Florida Gator head coach Jim McElwain. But that's no longer the case.
“Jett Duffey was not admitted and is not a student at Central Michigan University,” Central Michigan spokesperson Heather Smith said in a statement, according to detroitnews.com. “Thus, there is nothing the president or anyone else at the university would be able to comment on.”
Additionally, Central Michigan Athletic Director Michael Alford declined to comment, citing NCAA rules prohibiting discussing prospective athletes who haven't signed a national letter of intent.
Duffey is now without a home for a second time after failing to gain admission to the graduate program of his chosen university. What's strange is that Central Michigan seemed to say that Duffey had no problems with admission initially. Now, weeks later, the university denied him.
Of course, Duffey has a past that gets drudged up at every new stop, and there are people celebrating Tulane and Central Michigan as taking a stand against a Title IX offender. The schools, however, say that it's strictly academic.
