It's that time of year — everyone loves grilling and has their favorite ways of doing it.

United Supermarkets corporate dietitian Brenda Garcia popped into the studio with some great tips for making the most of our Great American Pastime while keeping things healthy and nutritious.

Before you cringe and stop reading, relax: You don't have to skip the beef. "Everyone always thinks I'm going to say, 'Don't eat beef,' but actually, beef is such a great source of protein," Garcia said. It also has 10 essential nutrients, including zinc, iron and B vitamins.

Your best bet is leaner cuts, like eye of round, top round, bottom round, sirloin and top sirloin. They can get kind of chewy if you throw them straight on the grill, though, so try marinating them overnight first to break up some of that protein. Then, maybe you can save the less-lean cuts for date night or the occasional treat.
