Summertime is upon us and there's nothing more important than making sure your body is staying hydrated, especially since it's extremely easy to get dehydrated and not even be aware of it.

So, what are some of the best ways to keep yourself refreshed? Brenda Garcia, a registered dietitian with United Supermarkets, has a few tips:

For starters, nothing beats an ice-cold glass of water on a hot summer day. But if you're looking for ways to switch things up and add a little extra something to your plain old glass of water, there are a few different things you can do.

Take some of that fruit — particularly watermelon, strawberries, and grapes — you have sitting on your kitchen counter and stick them in the freezer for a few hours. Once they've had some time to chill, you can take them out and pop them in your water.

Fruit-infused water is the perfect summertime drink and adds the perfect amount of flavor. Plus, you don't have to worry about any of the extra sugar and calories that come with artificially flavored beverages.

If you're a fan of sparkling water, that's another great way to stay hydrated and there are so many great brands out there that you probably haven't tried yet. United Supermarkets (via their Happy + Nourished blog) recommend checking out the following brands/flavors:

  • Rambler (Limestone Flavor)
  • AHA (Peach & Honey, Blueberry & Pomegranate, and Watermelon & Lime)
  • Waterloo (Blueberry Flavor)
  • Topo Chico (Plain or Grapefruit)
