This Wednesday, Oct. 30, United Supermarkets will kick off the annual Toys for Tots campaign at the former United Supermarkets location near the corner of 29th Drive and Marsha Sharp Freeway, which will serve as the toy drop-off and distribution headquarters for this year’s drive. Texas Tech Head Football Coach, Kliff Kingsbury will be in attendance to donate the ‘first toy’ and United will present a $2,500 check to Toys for Tots.

Community Christian Church will host their annual Holiday Extravaganza fundraiser on Friday, November 1st from 10AM-6PM and Saturday, November 2nd from 10AM-3PM at 3417 96th Street.

Mr. Dykes will be honored at the 14th annual Hero’s Luncheon presented by the Lubbock Area Foundation on Friday October 11 at the Overton Hotel & Conference Center.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains announces Former Dallas Cowboy Daryl "Moose" Johnston to speak Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:00) at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Theater. The speaking engagement is a fundraiser to benefit the Children's Advocacy Center mission.

United Supermarkets recently teamed up with the South Plains Food Bank to “Wreck Hunger” by hosting a 30-hour, tailgate-themed food drive at its 19thand Quaker Market Street location. Almost 30,000 meals were donated to the food bank in result of the drive. United donated an additional $25,000 to the food bank.
