Woodystock is an annual camp-out benefit concert. The Woodystock Benefit began fifteen years ago when Woody Miller, was tragically killed in an industrial fire at work, leaving behind five children. The event has been carried on in Woody Miller’s honor every year since, and benefits Lubbock children who have been unfortunate burn victims.

Every year 100 percent of all money raised at Woodystock is given directly to previously chosen Lubbock families who have children that have suffered extensive burn injuries. With the nature if burn injuries, these children will continue to need costly treatment until they are finished growing so Woodystock has “adopted” these 2 Lubbock families.

Thirteen-year old, Kirsten Ellis’ family: Kirsten was severely burned over 50 percent of her body at six months of age in an apartment fire in Lubbock, TX in 1999, which unfortunately killed her mother and brother. Her father was at work at the time and today Kirsten has her Dad, “Mom” Lacey, and little brother Cameron. Kirsten is a very vibrant young girl but is still in need of on-going medical care which must continue until she is done growing.

Fourteen-year old, Levi Cantrell’s family: Levi was “Life-Flighted” to UMC as an unfortunate burn victim from Odessa, TX in 2002. Levi is also still in need of medical care and costly medications (until he finishes growing). Levi was heroically adopted by his UMC nurse, Lori Cantrell, who has since adopted two other special needs children and has one child of her own. This family will also continue to need our community’s help throughout the years.
