Former Texas Tech defensive standout Dakota Allen had to wait until late on day three of the 2019 NFL Draft to hear his name called, but sometimes it's better to wait so you can be dropped in a better situation.

Allen's wait let him go to one of the best teams in the NFL and Super Bowl contenders, the Los Angeles Rams.

Allen will fight for a roster spot at inside linebacker in the Rams' scheme. He can also make his money as a special teams superstar and practice guy.

For Dakota to even be in the NFL Draft shows perseverance and fortitude after getting into trouble early in his collegiate career. He didn't make mistakes, though; he learned lessons. Those tough lessons now have him in place to make the roster of one of the best teams in the NFL.
