Deputies Say Lubbock Man Was High When He Shot Woman
Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputies say that a man was "high on drugs" the night that he supposedly shot a woman.
KAMC News reports that LCSO deputies responded to reports of a shots fired call on Tuesday, May 17th. When deputies arrived on scene, they found the woman with a gunshot wound.
She told them that the driver of a white 4-door car stopped and approached her at some point that night. What led to him allegedly shooting her was not made clear. A witness at the scene was able to tell deputies which way the white 4-door car went afterwards, leading to the eventual location of the car's owner, 27-year-old Julius Douglas.
While talking with deputies, Douglas told them that he was high on drugs and was, in fact, not the suspect. He claims that someone by the name of Benjamin Wheeler had borrowed his car and giving him money and drugs. So far, the validity of this claim is uncertain.
Douglas was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond has been set at $125,000.
