Davis Webb was selected by the NY Giants as the 87th overall pick. That makes him the second Red Raider QB to be drafted in the 2017 NFL draft after Patrick Mahomes.

Between Texas Tech and Cal, Davis Webb threw for 9,852 yards and 83 touchdowns with a 61 completion percentage. The Big 12 Rookie of the Year transferred as a graduate transfer after Patrick Mahomes won the starting job in Webb's junior season.

Former Red Raider Administrator Kent Hance loved the pick.

Paul Schwartz, from the New York Post, had several tweets from an initial interview with Webb.

Speaking of his role on the team, Eli Manning is obviously the starter on the team and has three years left on his contract. But Webb is now the second best quarterback on the Giants roster and has to be the heir apparent to the Manning throne.

Davis Webb was named a captain at both Texas Tech and Cal and has been praised for his work ethic and passion for the game of football at every stop. Those intangibles are what will allow Davis Webb to find success in the NFL.

The New York Giants play the Kansas City Chiefs on November 19th, so maybe we'll see Mahomes vs Webb.

Stranger things have happened.
