Get Ready Lubbock to Eat Some Beans & Cornbread For A Good Cause
To celebrate their 36th year of service the Hospice of Lubbock is holding the largest fundraiser across the South Plains. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic Hospice of Lubbock will be having their first in-person event.
The 34th annual Mayors' Beans and Cornbread Luncheon is set for Friday, March 3, and will be held in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center but this event is not entirely in-person. Since COVID-19 variants are still running around there is a drive-thru option for anyone still social distancing, or anyone just not wanting to be around people.
Hospice of Lubbock is a faith based non-profit care provider that uses the funds from this fund raiser to be able to provide free care to those in hospice. The funds also don't go directly to just those that are terminally ill in Lubbock but to18 surrounding counties that are near the Hub City and are underfunded, or unfunded. The Mayors' Beans and Cornbread Luncheon will also mark the first time that Lubbock's newest mayor, Mayor Tray Payne, attends the event.
This event will only be accessible from the North entrance at the street level and the drive-thru area will be located in the North side of the building but in the lower level, off of Mac Davis Lane. For just $20 you do get a full plate of beans and cornbread with all the fixings from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 3, 2023.
