When you are driving around different cities you may notice some roads, drivers and places are better than others. This list of what are the best and worst cities to drive in the United States might shock you.
U.S. News just released a study and data showing "The Most and Least Safe Cities for U.S. Drivers." One Texas city made it on the least and for the top safest, none made the list.
Let's start off with the best. Here is the list:
- New York City
- Washington D.C.
- Virginia Beach
- San Francisco
If you are like me and think these answers have to be wrong apparently they aren't.
According to US News, "The degree of risk a driver faces is determined by a number of factors, including where they live, how many miles they drive, and the type of car they own. Where someone lives also can influence how much they pay for auto insurance. For example, the average annual car insurance rate is less than $900 in Lebanon, New Hampshire, while the average annual rate is more than $3,300 in Miami."
The study looked at data on fatal auto accidents per capita in each city from 2016 to 2020. It also looked at the number of people per capita involved in fatal crashes in each city during that same time frame. They also looked at the fatality rate per miles traveled and the number of DUI per capita and theft.
Now for the least safe. I would have put money that Lubbock would be on there but it was not the Texas city that made the list. The one that did is pretty bad and I hate driving in it.
