Jahmi’us Ramsey Gets Drafted by Sacramento Kings

Jahmi'us Ramsey fell to the 43rd pick in the NBA draft and the Sacramento Kings got themselves a versatile guard because of it. Ramsey averaged 15 points per game as the Big 12 freshman of the year for Texas Tech last year. He also shot nearly 43% from three and had four rebounds per game.

Jay Bilas loved the pick by the Kings acknowledging that Ramsey has a lot of talent but has a lot to improve on to be successful at the NBA level. Bilas said Ramsey can really finish and can stretch it out but would need to improve his passing and defense.

Ramsey was the second Big 12 guard that the Kings drafted today. Iowa State product Tyrese Haliburton was also selected by the team in the 1st round 12th overall. Haliburton also scored 15 points per game last year in the conference and added 6 rebounds per game.

Ramsey is the third Red Raider drafted in a row. Zhaire Smith was drafted to the 76er's back in 2018. Jarret Culver was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves last year and now Ramsey to the Kings in 2020. Ramsey is the second Red Raider to be drafted to Sacramento as noted by KLBK's Eric Kelly on twitter joining Jason Sasser who was drafted by the franchise in 1996.

CBS.com graded the Ramsey pick as a B-minus. "As a freshman at Texas Tech, Ramsey was one of the best pure shooters in the Big 12." Their write-up said." He still has a lot of growing to do to diversify his offensive arsenal but is a great catch-and-shoot threat who had first-round potential."
