A man that was arrested in Lamb County has admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl, but doesn't think he should be labeled a sex offender.

KAMC News reports that Robert Patrick Marshall, who was 20 years old at the time, began a sexual relationship with the girl in October of 2019. About a month later, the girl's family had learned of the relationship. They immediately reported it to Olton Police.

Marshall was indicted for sexual assault of a child in Lamb County, but was released on bond.

It's said that right after Marshall was released from jail, he resumed his relationship with the girl. A family friend, though, discovered images of the girl with Marshall, so law enforcement began investigating once again.

Marshall was interviewed by a Texas Ranger and said "I've already admitted to it...I did what I did. I deserve some sort of punishment. Now I don't deserve sex offender…This was all consented even though she’s 14 and can’t consent…Yeah, I know, people do got to learn their lessons."

On Thursday, March 3rd, Marshall pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography. It's said that images and videos were sent from the girl's phone to his own, and he even admitted to possessing them.

Marshall faces 5 to 20 years in prison, and will have to register as a sex offender as part of his plea deal.
