Over the past week, several theft and robbery crimes have occurred across the South Plains.


In Plainview on Friday, September 24th, the Plainview Police Department responded to a home burglary. Police responded to the call at approximately 1:50 p.m. at a home in the 900 block of First Street. The homeowner told authorities that they knew the suspect who broke into their home. Two handguns were stolen from this residence.

Later that day, just after 3:30 p.m., Plainview police responded to reports about a man with a gun near Plainview High School trying to break into a vehicle. With additional information acquired, officers arrested the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Jordan Omar Garza, and connected him to both crimes that day.

Garza already had warrants out for his arrest for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Garza was also charged with burglary of a habitation.


In Lubbock on Wednesday, September 22nd, the Lubbock Police Department received reports of theft in the 2100 block of Avenue U. Officers responded just before 10:30 a.m., and with a description given to authorities by witnesses, identified the suspect as Deserae Gonzales.

Gonzalez was arrested and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.


A Lubbock Walmart was robbed on Saturday, September 25th. The suspect, identified as Peyton Peoples, was taken into custody by Lubbock police around 10 a.m. Reports say Peoples robbed the Walmart location at 1911 Marsha Sharp Freeway and fled on foot across Avenue Q to a nearby building.
