Patrick Mahomes Is Only 11th on the List of the Highest-Paid Quarterbacks
Given the success he's helped bring the Kansas City Chiefs, you'd think Patrick Mahomes would be the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. But he's not. He's not even in the Top 10.
He's tied for 11th place with Kirk Cousins of the Atlanta Falcons. They both pull down a measly $45 million a year.
But does Patrick feel underpaid? Not really. He says, quote, "It's about having a good dialogue, good communication with the front office, with ownership.
"We've done that here. And as we've been able to allow me to be a highly paid guy while at the same time build a great team around me."
He adds, quote, "I'm doing pretty well myself. For me, it's just about going out there trying to win football games, trying to make money for my family at the end of the day. I feel like I'm doing a great job of that."
Of course, Mahomes is a very proud Texan! Born in Tyler and attending high school in Whiteface. According to Wikipedia:
Mahomes attended Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas.[31] He played football, baseball, and basketball.[32] Mahomes believes that training in pitching and playing basketball improved his quarterback skills.[33] In football, he had 4,619 passing yards, 50 passing touchdowns, 948 rushing yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns as a senior in high school. In baseball, he threw a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts in a game his senior year.[34] He was named the Maxpreps Male Athlete of the Year for 2013–2014.[35]
Here's another thing you may not know about Patrick...he's scared of teleprompters. Seriously...
He holds three Super Bowl MVP titles, but he's too scared to host "Saturday Night Live". Patrick says he's been asked, but doesn't think he's ready yet. He has a fear of reading off a teleprompter
He's also still scarred from giving a speech at the 2023 ESPY Awards.
Maybe when Patrick finds out that "SNL" uses cue cards and NOT teleprompters, he'll change his mind.
