A near-perfect game from Texas Tech Basketball led to a 97-62 victory over the Montana State Bobcats in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Texas Tech's 97 points are the most by a Red Raiders basketball team in the NCAA tournament. The 27 point margin at halftime was Texas Tech's largest this season.

Terrence Shannon Jr. continued his hot shooting from deep getting to 20 points in the contest, while Mr. Consistent for Texas Tech, Bryson Williams added 20 of his own. The Red Raiders also got double-digit production from Kevin McCullar, Adonis Arms, Davion Warren, and Kevin Obanor who finished the game with a double-double adding 11 rebounds.

Montana State was clearly outmatched early with Texas Tech racing to a 32-9 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Bobcats never recovered.

It helped that Texas Tech was shooting lights out.

The Red Raiders also never took their foot off the gas offensively scoring 52 points in the first half and another 45 in the second half.

After the big win, the Road Raiders sang the Matador Song to make the team feel at home.

Texas Tech will now move on to face Notre Dame in round two of the NCAA Tournament after beating Rutgers in double-overtime earlier this week in the first four game and then Alabama in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Notre Dame is a dangerous tournament but will be tired on Sunday playing their third game in the last five days. They were as hot as Texas Tech in Round 1 though shooting more than 60% from the floor. Cormac Ryan had 29 points with seven threes against Alabama.
