The annual Ig Nobel prizes were handed out last Thursday night.  If you're not familiar, those are awards at Harvard that are given out to the STUPIDEST scientific achievements of the year.  Here are some highlights...

The prize in psychology was given to a study that found the Eiffel Tower looks smaller if you lean to the left when you look at it.

The prize in physics went to a study on why women's ponytails bounce the way they do.

The prize in fluid dynamics went to a study on the right way to hold a coffee cup to keep your coffee from sloshing.

And the prize in medicine went to a French study that advised doctors on how to perform colonoscopies that don't make their patients explode.  I'm not sure that anyone ever has, but now we can be positive.  (???)
