The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is historic. It's been going on forever and is the most iconic parade in the United States. You might argue the Rose Parade before the Rose Bowl is more iconic in regards to college football, but the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is synonymous with football on Thanksgiving.

You watch the parade in the morning, then you watch the Dallas Cowboys. Growing up, we'd finish off the night with Texas and Texas A&M, but that doesn't exist right now.

Why am I talking about Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? Because it's getting a big shot of West Texas next year. The Texas Tech University Goin' Band from Raiderland is heading to New York, New York in 2023 to participate in the parade festivities.

This season, Texas Tech will be playing the Oklahoma Sooners on Thanksgiving weekend in Lubbock and will need the Goin' Band rocking in The Jones. In 2023? The Goin' Band will be rocking down Broadway or whatever famous New York street the parade runs down.

The Goin' Band was told of the news that they'd be representing the entire state of Texas in the parade on Thursday. News that they celebrated with confetti and loud screams.

Here's the moment they found out:

The announcement made today across social media featured the hashtag #TTU100, which will become much more prevalent over the next several months and into next year. The fall of 2023 will mark Texas Tech's Centennial Anniversary, AKA the university's 100th year in existence.
