I feel like I need to start this post with, in these uncertain times, but I think we all know that by now. The SEC has pushed back the start of their season and gone to a conference-only schedule. The Pac 12, ACC, and Big 10 have done the same.

The Big 12 has announced they'll be going conference only with a single non-conference game thrown on to make the schedule an even 10 games. The dates aren't ironed out yet, but I'm sure the football programs in the Big 12 have a pretty good idea of the timeline.

Still as the schedule and lay of the land seem to be getting ironed out you look at the Red Raider roster and see several positions with no clear starter in place. The offense has some key pieces but the offensive line has lost a lot of production and the depth is a mess at the skill positions.

On the defensive side Jordyn Brooks, Broderick Washington, and Douglas Coleman aren't walking back through that door which means there are at least three giant holes to fill. Adrian Frye is switching back to corner so there is another starting safety to replace. Xavier Benson has taken a leave of absence.

All told, the defense might be battling for 9 of the 11 positions when the dust settles. Eli Howard and the rest of the defensive line seem set, but beyond them, the defense will likely look brand new.

Here are the top 5 position battles I'm looking forward to in the next few weeks:
