Texas Tech Men's Basketball coach Tubby Smith will be in several halls of fame before all is said and done. Smith will join his alma mater's hall of fame on Saturday, May 21.

It was announced Tuesday by the High Point University Athletics Department and the Panther Club that Smith will join the 2016 class which makes up the second class in school history.

Joining Tubby Smith are other High Point legends: Marie Riley (1980: basketball, tennis and volleyball), Kitty Steele (women’s tennis/field hockey head coach) and Roger Watson (1966: golf).

Smith was 7th on the all-time leading scorer list with over 1,500 points by the end of his career and was named All-Carolina Conference honors as a senior.

In December 2011, High Point University celebrated "Tubby Smith Night." The University honored Smith with a banner with his name which now hangs from the rafters at the Mill Center, where High Point plays basketball.

Smith collected his 550th career victory during Monday’s 76-69 victory at TCU, which enabled to surpass former St. John’s, North Carolina and South Carolina coach Frank McGuire for 63rd place on the NCAA’s all-time wins list. He is one of seven active coaches to win a national championship and 550 games.

Texas Tech plays yet another top ranked Big 12 team this Saturday, January 23, against No. 6 West Virginia. Tip off is set for 12 p.m. at the United Supermarkets Arena.
