This is an exciting day, y'all. We finally know when we get to enjoy Lubbock's first petting zoo.

Back in January I told y'all it was coming and how this will be a perfect spot for family fun. Well, owner Joey Perez reached out to me to say it's time.

It will be called Old MacDonalds Petting and Family Fun Farm. This has been a dream of theirs for six years and they've finally done it. The group says the petting farm will be a safe and family-orientated place. There will be activities for families, but an emphasis on the education side of things as well. The facility will be open to families, school field trips, reunions, church events, birthday parties and so much more.

It will be a petting farm, but also have horses for people with special needs. They will have one petting station available for any children with special needs and they can take any of their animals into that station so your child can have a one-on-one experience.

The location will grow in stages. In stage one, they'll open the park and allow everyone to come in. Once they start making money and getting people in, they will finish two other stages in the coming years. Once it's all done, the farm will be about 20 acres in total.

At opening, they will have 6 petting stations, pony rides, a playground, swings, tether ball, a volleyball court and a piñata station. For the toddlers, there will be another playground, swings, seesaw and jungle gym.

It will cost $8 to enter and children under 12 months old are free. They'll offer a concession stand and everything will be $2. The petting food bags will also be $2. They will have their big opening on Saturday, August 13th and they can't wait to share their dream with the community.

Old MacDonald's Petting and Family Fun Farm will be located off of N CR 1264 in Shallowater, Texas. You can follow along with their progress by visiting their Facebook page.
