On Thursday, June 17th, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team responded to a possible barricaded suspect.

The call came in a bit before 10 a.m. near County Road 1200 and County Road 6900, a bit northwest of Wolfforth.

It's said that law enforcement received a tip regarding 43-year-old Royce Edward Wood, a man who is believed to have shot at a Wise County Deputy and a Rhome Police Officer on Sunday, June 13th. The police officer was shot in the leg, but is said to currently be recovering.

A blue alert was issued after Wood's alleged assault, but it was called off on Wednesday, June 16th. Despite that, the search continued.

KAMC News reports that Wood used to live in Lubbock, so Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin was in constant contact with Lubbock Police.

After announcing multiple times for any occupants in the residence to come outside, deputies cleared the residence. Wood was not located inside the house, and the all-clear was given at around 12:30 p.m.

It wasn't necessarily specified whether or not it was just Wood who wasn't located, or if the house was completely empty.

The search for Wood continues. He's described as standing at 6'2", weighing around 200 pounds, bald with a full beard and green eyes He was last seen on foot wearing a baseball cap with a camouflage bandana, black sunglasses, a vest and a green shirt. Any information can be called into 806-643-8777 or 940-627-8777.
