The South Plains Honor Flight's annual fundraiser will start at 6am and run until 11pm Wednesday, July 2nd on KCBD. The projected budget for the three-day event, which leaves Lubbock on Oct. 1, is $220,000.

The budget covers the cost of the charter flight, tours, hotels, and meals for more than 140 veterans and support staff. All guardians who provide assistance to the veterans pay their own expenses.

The South Plains Honor Flight will include a three-day, two-night trip to visit many special sites in Washington, including the WWII Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, Marine Corps (Iwo Jima) Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Air Force Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Navy Memorial, and the U. S. Capitol.

According to KCBD's website, "As part of the telethon, those businesses and individuals who contribute at least $1,000 will be able to appear on the broadcast and be recognized for their efforts on behalf of our military men and women. Those businesses and individuals are encouraged to contact Al Faison at 806-441-3595 to schedule their appearance on the telethon."
