When many shoppers think healthy, they tend to envision the produce section — and of course, fresh produce is chock full of nutrients. But United Supermarkets' registered dietitians are encouraging us all to give a closer look at the frozen foods aisles, too, in honor of Frozen Foods Month.

United Supermarkets' corporate dietitian Brenda Garcia suggests Silver Hills' Sprouted Power breads, which are made with sprouted grains (a process that makes the nutrients more available to our bodies). They also have no preservatives, which is why they are found in the frozen section.

She also encourages shoppers to consider the convenience of frozen spices, frozen fruits and vegetables and frozen seafood, the last which is found in both the frozen food section and the seafood section. As a shopping tip, Garcia says there often are better sales on frozen seafood than you'd find at the seafood counter, so it's worth it to keep an eye out for them.

Frozen veggies and fruit are already peeled and chopped and essentially ready for you to start cooking, Garcia adds. If you need ideas for smoothies and meals with frozen foods, Garcia and her colleagues have tons of options at happyandnourished.com:
