Child Kidnapping Suspect Now Charged With Sexual Assault of a Child
A man who has already been accused of kidnapping a girl in Levelland, Texas has now been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
KAMC News reports that 25-year-old Damien Dre Gonzales (pictured above) is accused of sexually abusing a girl back in August 2019. It's said the girl was staying with her dad as part of visitation after a divorce. Gonzales, a friend of the girl's father, was also staying the night "because he was drunk."
Gonzales has also been accused of inappropriately touching another girl in the same residence the previous night.
The mother of the first victim told police in July 2020. It was only after that incident that investigators found out about the second incident.
The father claimed to not have known about the abuse until he was told about it much later.
Gonzales was arrested in Hockley County before investigators determined the identity of the suspect for the sexual abuse incidents. He was arrested for aggravated kidnapping and indecency with a child.
In that case, he was found with a girl on the side of the road. Gonzales is said to have taken the girl from a birthday party and intended to sexually assault her.
The kidnapping case involved a girl around 9 years old, and the two sexual abuse cases involved girls less than 14 years old.
Gonzales remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
